“Ohanashi no Kai” by Koji Tanikawa 17th Meijin will be held at “Kodomo Hon no Mori Kobe” for children.
2024 is the 100th anniversary of the Japan Shogi Association. This is an anniversary year for the Shogi world.
Whether you are new to Shogi or not, why don’t you join Mr. Tanigawa and explore the world of Shogi?

[Profile]
Born in Kobe on April 6, 1962, he learned Shogi at age 5.
On December 20, 1976, he became a 4-dan. 8-dan in April 1982.
On June 15, 1983, he became the youngest player ever to win Meijin at the age of 21.
On June 11, 1997, he was reinstated as Meijin and qualified as the 17th Meijin for a total of five terms.
On October 1, 2006, he achieved 1,300 official wins. He has won 27 titles, including 4 Ryuoh and 5 Meijin, and 22 Go championships.
In 2002, he received the Medal with Purple Ribbon, and in May 2010, he became the 17th Meijin.

learned to play Shogi at the age of 5 and naturally acquired the ability to think, remember, and make decisions as I became passionate about what I liked to do. We hope that you will find what you like and what you are good at through actively challenging yourself in a variety of things.

5. Capacity, Eligibility, and Participation Fee

(1) Capacity: 100 people (advance reservations and lottery system)
(2) Eligibility: Children 4 years old and up and their parents/guardians
(3) No participation fee
*One parent/guardian per child (the same number of children or fewer) may apply.
Please note that this is a children’s event, so please refrain from making reservations for adults only, or for more parents than children.

6. Participation

: Reservations must be made in advance and by lottery.
Please make reservations by clicking the “Click here for reservations and admission” button on the “Kodomo Hon no Mori Kobe” website.
Applications accepted: December 15 (Friday) – December 25 (Monday)
