Kobe Affinity University to create a 3D map of “Kita-ku in Mirai” by arranging scrap wood crafts

On February 10, Kobe Shinwa University (Kita-ku, Kobe) will hold a workshop “Let’s Play with Kita-ku 3D Map! will be held at Kobe Shinwa University (Kita-ku, Kobe City) on February 10. No participation fee is required.

This is an annual event for elementary school students in Kita-ku, Kobe City. This year, using scrap wood and stationery, students will make a 3D map of buildings, roads, and other things they would like to see in “Kita-ku in Mirai,” and together they will make a 3D map of the city.

With the cooperation of Prof. Hiroyuki Sumasu, a specialist in child education at Kobe Shinwa University’s Faculty of Education, and student volunteers, participants will learn about the charms of the area through a “Kita-ku quiz” and workshops.

A giant three-dimensional map of Kita-ku is made by layering Styrofoam-like materials to represent the height and unevenness of the mountains of Kita-ku. This is a fun event in which participants can create their own “town” using a variety of tools available at the venue.

The event will be held in two sessions (15 people will be selected by lottery for each session), and applications will be accepted until February 2.

The person in charge of the event said, “We will start with ‘What is the Kita-ku of Kobe City? and “What an interesting place we live in! We hope that visitors will enjoy learning about the city and discover how interesting the place they live in is.

Through the workshop, participants discovered many of the charms of Kobe City’s Kita Ward! Just thinking about what kind of buildings could be built in the town where I live is exciting. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of town “Mirai no Kita-ku” made of everyone’s creations will become.
