Summer vacation means Bon Dancing! Enjoy a day of dancing with everyone in the community at Itajuku

The “Itajuku Summer Festival 2024” will be held on July 27 at Itajuku Elementary School (Suma-ku, Kobe). In case of rain, the festival will be canceled and postponed to July 28.

This summer festival event is organized by the “Itajuku Commercial Federation Youth Club,” which works to promote the charm of the Itajuku area. The venue will be lined with food stalls selling gourmet foods, and various dance performances, especially “Bon Odori,” will be performed.

The festival will start at 3:00 p.m. A total of 21 vendors will be participating in the fair corner, including “Itajuku Marche (takosen, fruit punch, etc.),” “Marutomaru (shaved ice, French fries, etc.),” “Karakaduru (resin scooping),” “Grilicious (Gapao rice),” “Gelatosi (gelato kitchen car),” etc. A total of 21 stores are scheduled to participate.

Starting at 4:10 p.m., there will be a “special skills contest” by students from Itajuku Elementary School, followed by dance and cheerleading performances by local students and organizations.

The “Bon Odori” dance will begin with a practice time at 7:30 p.m., followed by a 20-minute performance at 7:40 p.m. to the accompaniment of the Suma Kita Junior High School Taiko drum club. This will be followed by a “flash mob” of 150 dance performance participants. The event will conclude with “Bon Jovi,” in which visitors will dance freely to the music of “BONJOVI” with Tarzan Yamashita as DJ.
