Kobe City: Subsidizes the cost of the first obstetric visit for pregnancy determination!

To reduce the financial burden and to provide continuous support to pregnant women in households exempt from municipal tax and living on public assistance, the city will subsidize up to 10,000 yen of the first obstetric consultation fee received on or after April 1, 2024.

1. Eligible persons

Those who meet all of the following conditions

• Those who have confirmed a positive result with an over-the-counter pregnancy test.
• Those who are Kobe citizens at the time of their first visit to an obstetrics and gynecology medical institution for a pregnancy determination test.
• Those who belong to households exempt from municipal tax or households on public assistance.

2. Subsidies

Up to 10,000 yen per pregnancy will be subsidized.

*The subsidy covers the cost of tests and medical examinations necessary to determine pregnancy (uninsured treatment).

　Expenses related to insured medical treatment and selected medical treatment expenses are not covered by the subsidy.

3. How to receive the subsidy

There are two ways to apply for the subsidy.

(1) Apply for a subsidy coupon (for those who will receive a medical examination in the future)

　Applications will be accepted at the Health and Welfare Section counter of ward offices and branch offices from October 1, 2024.

(2) Application for reimbursement payment (for those who have already paid the fee for the first medical checkup and the date of the checkup is within one year from the date of the checkup)

　Applications will be accepted by mail to City Hall from October 1, 2024.

　(*This applies to medical examinations received on or after April 1, 2024.
