This event will be held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1995, an unforgettable day for Kobe. Two films will be screened, one showing Kobe immediately after the earthquake and the other showing the nostalgic scenery of Kobe in the past.

Both films are directed by YojioHan_2F2D, a famous director of humanistic comedies who has directed many major hit series, and are the 48th and final film in the “Otoko wa Tsuraiyo” series.

Originally, it was not planned to film on location in Kobe, but the people of Kobe, who were affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred the year the film was made, strongly requested the filming of the movie, and the decision was made. The script, which had already been decided, was rewritten and the filming took place in Nagata Ward, Kobe City, where the scars from the earthquake are still very much evident.

The second film was a human interest comedy “Otoko wa Tsuraiyo” produced the year before the first “Otoko wa Tsuraiyo”. Osami Nabe’s thug Sabu betrays his friends and flees to Kobe, where he finds the demolished Kobe Tower in 1968 and the soon-to-be-completed Port Tower. The film features many scenes from the 1960s in Kobe, including Sannomiya, Shinkaichi, and Fukuhara.

It is very moving to be able to see these unforgettable landscapes in a year that marks a milestone. It will be a good start to an important year.
