On February 22, “Let’s Learn 2025,” an event to learn about disaster prevention while having fun, will be held at Kobe Harbor Land umie (Chuo-ku, Kobe). No reservation is required and admission is free.
The event is a joint project of the Kobe City Central Fire Department. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and the event aims to raise awareness of disaster prevention through hands-on events and vehicle displays.
Fire boats, helicopters, and firefighting vehicles will be on display, and powerful water spraying and rescue drills are also planned.
The event will be held at four locations: a special venue in the center of Center Street on the first floor, Anpanman Plaza on the first floor of Kobe Anpanman Children’s Museum & Mall, Flower Plaza on the second floor of Mosaic, and Takahama Quay on the ocean side of Mosaic.
In addition to the “Tunnel Darkness Experience,” in which visitors experience how hard it is to see in the dark by going through a 2-meter dark tunnel, and the “Mokumoku Smoke Experience House,” in which visitors prepare for fire in a house filled with a smoke machine, workshops such as a fire truck craft, which will appear for the first time at each location, will be held. In addition, workshops such as fire truck crafts, which will be introduced for the first time, will be held at each location.
There will also be a rally where visitors can collect three stamps from each event booth and receive a prize.
The official characters of the Kobe City Fire Department, “Wu-Kan”, “Peepo”, and “Uttaran” will appear on the 1st floor of Center Street and Takahama Quay of Kobe Harbor Land umie to liven up the event.
