On May 1, “Tabi-Tabi Bookstore” (6 Suidosuji, Nada-ku, Kobe), which sells new and used books, opened in the Suidosuji shopping district area.
Mr. Kawata, owner of Tabitabi Bookstore
Mr. Makoto Kawada, who has experience working for a publishing company, opened this bookstore in an area where bookstores had not existed for some time. Having heard that there are many book lovers in the area, he decided to open the store to provide a place where people can discuss books and drinks, including alcohol. The store also offers a rental shelf service, where users can place their favorite books on the shelves. The store has an area of approximately 5.5 tsubo. It has four counter seats.
The store will also have a selection of children’s books, as there are many children in the neighborhood. The store will also hold events, the first of which will be a book reading event on May 21.
Kawata said, “Since we have gone to the trouble of reviving a bookstore in Suidosuji, we cannot afford to let it fall into disrepair. Opening a bookstore is not the goal, and I hope to continue to be the owner 25 years from now.
