Let’s complete the picture by visiting 5 places in the karuta!

Higashinada Karuta Stamp Rally” is being held in Higashinada Ward, Kobe City. The rally is held until September 30.

The “Higashinada Karuta” was created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Higashinada Ward, and is based on ideas from reading cards submitted by elementary school students in Higashinada Ward and picture cards created by high school students in the same ward, with themes such as famous places, great persons, and specialties of the ward.

Five locations were selected for this year’s contest: Mikage Public Hall, Koino Onsen Uharano no Yu, Higashinada Library, Sunshine Wharf Kobe, and Koiso Memorial Museum of Art.

Stack the stamps from each location on the base to create a single piece of artwork. A digital stamp rally will also be held at the same time. By installing the dedicated “Spot Tour” application on your smartphone and collecting all five digital stamps, you will be entered into a drawing to win original Karuta-designed goods.

The familiar and cute pictures are by Hideaki Yamazaki, an illustrator well known for his “Waketon” series. The cards designed by elementary school students are also interesting, so please download them from the website of Higashinada-ku.
