Approximately 530 pieces of a wide range of works including Japanese paintings and calligraphy! Kobe Museum of Art and Kobe

The 11th Nitten Kobe Exhibition will be held from February 15 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kobe and Kobe Fashion Museum, both located in Higashinada-ku, Kobe. The exhibition will run until March 23.

Nitten” is one of the largest comprehensive art exhibitions in Japan, consisting of five categories: Japanese-style painting, Western-style painting, sculpture, crafts and fine arts, and calligraphy. The exhibition boasts a long tradition since it was first held in 1907, and will be held in Kobe again this year and the year before last.

In addition to the basic works that tour the country, including the year’s Special Selection, selected works by local artists from Hyogo, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama, and other regions are also exhibited. This year, approximately 530 works will be on display.

Calligraphy Tetsuo Tanaka “Flower Form” (Member, Prime Minister’s Prize), Hyogo

This year, local artist Tetsuo Tanaka was honored with the Prime Minister’s Prize for calligraphy, while three Japanese-style painters and one calligrapher received special prizes. At the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a wide range of works, from masterpieces of the masters to selected local works.

Japanese-style painting “Shojo” by Mamoru Atsuta (Special Mention), Hyogo

During the exhibition period, the exhibiting artists will give commentary on their works, which will be a valuable opportunity to hear directly from them about the passion and thoughts that went into their works.
