[Image] 30,000 flowers herald the arrival of spring at “Rokko Island

The Rokko Island Tulip Festival, a major event in which the town of Rokko Island is filled with colorful tulips, will be held from March 22 to April 16 this year.

This year will be the 24th year for this event. The “Rokko Island Tulip Festival Executive Committee” and other volunteers will carefully cultivate 30,000 tulips of about 30 varieties, which will be in full bloom. During the festival, the tulips are lit up at night so that visitors can enjoy a different view of the flowers than during the daytime.

The five flowerbeds (A-E) are located around the River Mall, just south of Island Center Station on the Rokko Liner. Each location has its own unique design.

The “Tulip Art” in flowerbed C, which was particularly popular last year, has been redesigned even more. This year, a “certain shape” has been added to the east side of the flowerbed.

In addition to the “flower popularity vote” to support your favorite tulip and the “stamp rally” to visit the five flower beds, there is also a “tulip quiz” using smart phones, allowing visitors to feel the breath of spring and participate in a casual manner.

The annual “Sketch Contest” and “Tulip Photo Shoot” are also open to children and adults alike.

Participants in the event will receive an “original postcard (a set of two cards, one designed by a student of the Rokko Island High School Art Club & the other featuring a photo of tulips).

At the venue, there will also be a “Tulip Donation” to raise support for the Tulip Festival; for a donation of 1,000 yen or more, one tulip pot or five tulip cut flowers will be given away!

Postcards and tulips will be given away as soon as they are gone.
