On February 4, the annual event “The 30th Ume Viewing” will be held at Suma Rikyu Park in Kobe City’s Suma Ward until February 26.
The park has a vast 1,500-square-meter plum garden, where 160 plum trees of about 25 varieties will be in full bloom for about a month, ranging from the early-blooming Yae Kanburi (double-flowered) to the late-blooming Bungo and Kagoshima red plum trees, as well as white Kaga plum trees.
Events such as an ume-viewing tea ceremony on February 12, where visitors can enjoy tea in a Japanese-style room in the garden, will be announced on the official website as needed.
The park also has a camellia garden where early and late camellias bloom one after another from February to March, and a flower garden where visitors can spend a relaxing time as if in a private garden.
In a small forest in the center of the park overlooking Osaka Bay, there is a “Field Athletic – Children’s Forest Adventure Course” with 28 pieces of playground equipment arranged in succession, and a children’s playground with a playground complex, swings, jungle gym, swing equipment, and more.
The park also has a “Plum Garden,” where visitors are welcomed by Japanese narcissus and rape blossoms. From the hill, you can enjoy the view of Osaka Bay and ume blossoms together. <
Families and adults alike are sure to have a fulfilling time at the park. The beauty of the pretty plum blossoms is sure to bring an early taste of spring!
