The “Sailing to Chocolay Island! Valentine’s Day and White Day Cruise” is currently being offered by “Kobe Resort Cruise boh boh KOBE” (Hashiba-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe City).
Valentine and White Day Limited Edition Products
The event, which coincides with the Valentine’s and White Day seasons, is an industry-university collaboration project between Hayakoma Unyu, which operates tugboats and sightseeing boats based in the Port of Kobe, and students from the Visual Design Department of Kobe Design University. The students of the university’s “Cute Seminar,” which began collaborating with Hayakoma Unyu last year, proposed events and products for the “boh boh KOBE” passenger ship, which led to the realization of the project.
The ship departs from the Nakatottei Central Terminal, pier 5 in front of “Kamomeria,” and offers a 60-minute cruise to a virtual chocolate island with a quiz rally related to Valentine’s Day and Kobe.
A set of gâteau chocolates (mon copain) from Kobe-based confectionery Patisserie Montpreux and a Marine Bear strap, a popular item on the ship (2,500 yen), will be available for purchase, and the ship’s cafeteria will offer a variety of limited edition Valentine and White Day sweets, including “Chocolay Island Cupcakes,” “Hot Chocolate,” “boh boh Chocolate” and “boh boh Fritz with chocolate” (500 yen each) will also be available at the onboard cafeteria.
A company spokesperson said, “This cruise is designed for people to enjoy chocolate to the fullest, and we hope that people will use it as a way to return the favor for Valentine’s Day, which originated in Kobe.
Departure times are at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00 (the 11:00 and 17:00 cruises are temporary services and may be cancelled due to weather; the schedule can be checked on the website). Fares are 1,800 yen for adults, 1,500 yen for junior high and high school students and seniors, and 900 yen for elementary school students until March 14.
