Kobe Bunka” is a stage production with “soul” created by students.

A modern version of Kumiodori “Breathtaking” will be performed on March 30 and 31 in the main hall of Kobe Bunka Hall (Chuo-ku, Kobe). Tickets are now on sale (free for high school students and younger).

Modern Kumiodori is a stage style based on Kumiodori, a traditional classical Okinawan performing art, and incorporates three elements: modern music, dance, and dialogue. In this performance, visitors will be able to see a stage performance completed mainly by elementary to high school students who have been practicing hard.

The students who perform in the show take advantage of their long vacation to experience the stage in a way that they could not have in their school life alone. Since the students are a mix of lower elementary school students to high school seniors, the older students take care of the younger ones while they build up the stage.

<Breathless Synopsis>
The story begins about 300 years ago, in the fall of 1720, when farmers in the Minamiyama Mikurairi domain (an area directly under the shogunate with a stone value of 55,000 koku, including the entire area of present-day Minamiaizu and its suburbs) revolted. Even today, the story is passed down from generation to generation as a source of local pride, praised by the people of Oku-Aizu as “Minamiyama Gimin” (“the righteous people of Minamiyama”).
