30 carp streamers carrying dreams soar high in the sky! At Kobe Harborland

The “Kobe Swimmy Project (giant carp streamer hoisting event)” will be held on May 4 and 5 in front of the Mosaic Giant Ferris Wheel (south side of Takahama Quay) in Kobe Harborland (Chuo-ku, Kobe).

Launched in 2012, the event is designed to support children who are unable to receive adequate education outside of school due to economic reasons. Koi Noboribori (carp streamers) are hoisted on Children’s Day to convey the beauty of having dreams and to support children who have dreams.

On the day of the event, 30 carp streamers of various sizes, created mainly by children in Kobe City, will swim in the sky. After the children write their dreams on the carp streamers as “dream art,” which they use as ema (votive picture tablet), they can watch the carp streamers soar 50 meters into the sky using a large 80-ton giraffe crane.

The “Sparkling Swimmy Project Sticker Present” will also be held, where visitors can take photos or videos of these carp streamers and upload them to social networking sites with their tags attached to receive a sticker as a present. The Koinobori will be lit up and can be seen until 8 pm.

The person in charge of the event said, “This is the 13th year that we have held this event from Kobe on Children’s Day, hoping that it will become a culture that nurtures children’s growth and dreams together. We look forward to seeing you there.
