Aina Elementary School, Kobe City
As a small specially accredited school, our school conducts studies to deepen students’ interest in the local environment and traditions, and to interact with local people. This year, as part of the “Together with the Community! Project,” all students will work together to grow rice in the local rice paddies.
1. Outline
Date: Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 9:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (light rain permitting)
Place: Kaminomachi, Aina, Yamada-cho, Kita-ku, Tokyo

(1) Introduction ceremony
・Heading remarks
・Words by a representative of the students
・Transplanting instruction
(2) Rice planting practice
* The event may be postponed to May 29, 2024, due to weather and other conditions.
2. Others
<Reference> FY2024 Together with Local Communities! Project This is an effort to encourage all students to engage in rice farming as a labor production activity, to experience the joy of labor, and to develop a sense of gratitude for food. Through rice farming, students deepen their interest in the local environment and traditions, and interact with local people.
(1)All students will engage in rice farming by borrowing rice fields in the community and planting and harvesting rice.
(2)Under the guidance of local people, students will make straw crafts with rice straw and become familiar with traditional culture.
(3) Using the harvested glutinous rice, have a mochi pounding contest with parents and local residents.
