A special event, “Disaster Drill Day,” will be held on January 5, 2023 at “Kodomo Hon no Mori,” a cultural facility for children where they can freely interact with books. We are currently accepting applications for participation.
This event is a participatory evacuation drill in preparation for sudden emergencies such as earthquakes and fires, with the cooperation of the Kobe City Fire Department. After the evacuation drill, participants can actually use a fire extinguisher and experience a fire in a smoke tent. To participate, advance registration is required through the official website and will be accepted until December 19. If there are too many applicants, a drawing will be held.
The facility opened this year with the concept of “a place where children can learn the value of life and nurture their rich sensibilities and creativity. The library has about 18,000 books, including a full lineup of books published for infants through elementary school children, art books, photo books, and other publications that children can read with interest, and picture books by authors associated with Kobe City and set in the city.
On January 15, Ms. Takeshita will give a reading at the museum, “Poetry Reading and Passing on Memories 1.17. Applications are being accepted on the official website until December 19.
The museum commented, “This is the first 1.17 since Children’s Book Forest Kobe opened, and we hope that many children will visit the museum and learn about and feel the earthquake and disaster prevention through events such as participatory disaster drills and poetry readings by the Honorary Director Takeshita. I hope that many children will visit this place and learn and feel about the earthquake and disaster prevention. <Even
now, advance registration is required at the facility to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus and to avoid congestion.
It will be a good experience to participate in the event with a lot of books.
