A special Christmas event, “Feeding Commentary of Seals,” will be held at Kobe City Suma Seaside Aquarium (Suma-ku, Kobe) on December 24 and 25. Reservations are not required.
While listening to a lecture on ecology by a zookeeper, visitors can observe a parent and child of a largha seal being kept in the zoo eating food. The venue is the “Waterside Interaction Park” on the 3rd floor of the main building. *Because of the limited viewing space, the number of visitors may be limited depending on how crowded the site is on the day of the exhibition.
Gomafu seals, so named because of the black spotted pattern on their bodies, are found along the coasts of the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk in Hokkaido. In Sumasui, two seals, “Wakame” (mother) and her child “Mekabu,” live close together as parents and offspring.
On the day of the event, there will be a “quiz corner” where parents and children can enjoy participating, “Mekabu” will show off his jumping skills, and other events will be held. <
One of the unique attractions of Sumasui is the opportunity to observe the adorable largha seals up close and personal! This
