The “Chihayafuru Exhibition” will be held at the Daimaru Kobe Store (Chuo-ku, Kobe City) from January 4. The exhibition will run until January 22.
Yuki Suetsugu’s girls’ manga “Chihayafuru,” which has been serialized in “BE LOVE” (Kodansha) since 2007 and finally reached its final installment in the August 1, 2022 issue, is based on “competitive karuta” and has been read by many fans through three anime seasons, a live-action movie with a cast of star actors, and a long-term serialization. The manga has been read by many fans.
The exhibition will commemorate the completion of the series and look back on the story of “Chihayafuru” with a total of more than 500 exhibits, mainly original drawings. The exhibition will also feature color manuscripts newly drawn for this exhibition and others that will be exhibited for the first time. In addition to valuable setting materials and research notes, the exhibition will also introduce the behind-the-scenes story of the creation of “Chihayafuru,” including scenes of the elaborate production process and a video of Mr. Suetsugu talking about his passion for the work.
In addition to the exhibits, there will be a large collection of original exhibition goods, including stuffed animals of the mascot characters “Daddy Bear” and “Snow Maru” that appear in the works, and “Maki-e Nail Clippers made by Hashimoto Lacquerware” made especially for this exhibition!
