Awajiya, a bento box lunch shop headquartered in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City, began selling “Medetai-meshi,” a celebratory ekiben to commemorate its 120th anniversary, on January 5.
Medetto Tai Meshi” 1,200 yen (tax included)
In January 1903, with the approval of the Hansuru Railway (now Fukuchiyama Line), Awajiya began selling ekiben on trains from its base at Osaka Station, and celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2023. The shop’s unique ekiben (boxed meals) and products made in collaboration with companies, such as “Hittaridako-meshi” (rice with a pulled-out head), have been frequently talked about in the media and on SNS, and are popular not only in Hyogo Prefecture but also throughout the country.
This time, in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the company’s founding, a limited quantity of “Medettaibai-meshi” ekiben inspired by the celebratory sea bream will go on sale. The container for the “Medettaibai Meshi” is made of ceramic with a lovely, squat shape of a sea bream. The wrapping paper features an illustration of a sea bream celebrating 120 years of service.
The rice is made of
soy sauce and rice, topped with a layer of sea bream, prawns, and hijiki (hijiki mushrooms).
The price is 1,200 yen (including tax) in honor of the 120th anniversary. It will be sold at all Awajiya stores. <The
cute pink sea bream is a very festive product commemorating the 120th anniversary of Awajiya! It will be a perfect souvenir for your loved ones!
