The 25th “Let’s Play with Model Railroads” will be held at Bando Kobe Science Museum for Youth (Chuo Ward, Kobe City) on February 11 and 12, 2023, where about 2,000 model trains will be exhibited. Participation is free of charge (separate admission fee to the exhibition room is required).
The event, which was started to cheer up children affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, has been an annual event known as one of the largest model railroad events in the Kansai region, but will be held for the first time in three years since it was postponed due to measures to prevent new coronavirus infection. Approximately 2,000 N-gauge, HO-gauge, and O-gauge model trains will be on display, running through a diorama set up in the approximately 600-square-meter venue.
There will also be a corner where visitors can take commemorative photos wearing a station attendant’s uniform, make a magnet train that moves with the power of magnets, and an experimental show that uses the wisdom of science to move model trains. In the stamp rally for children up to high school age, visitors who collect all the stamps will receive original goods as a present.
On February 11, the popular “Car Wash Experience” will be held, where visitors can experience car washing while riding the Portliner. Numbered tickets, which will be distributed in the aisle on the first floor of the museum from 9:30 a.m. on the day, are required to participate. The first 100 people to arrive each time will be admitted.
The museum says, “There will be many events related to model trains! Please enjoy the whole day with your family as well as railroad fans. <A word from the reporter>
In addition, it seems that there will be pre-event programs that require advance registration, such as model train building (February 4 and 5) and mini-diorama building (January 28 and 29, February 5).
