An event for parents and children to enjoy a puppet show, “Harukoi Festa – Oyako de Hot Hitto” will be held at Design and Creative Center Kobe (KIITO) in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, on March 19. Advance reservations are required to attend.
This is an annual event organized by Kobe Chuo Oyako Gekijo (Children’s Theatre), which has been active for more than 40 years, with the aim of “providing children with opportunities to enjoy live performing arts such as puppet shows and music.
The Kobe Central Oyako Gekijo offers four courses according to the age of the children: toddler, lower elementary school, upper elementary school, and junior high school and above.
The performance will be a double feature on stage by the professional puppet troupe Clarte.
One is “Guicho Guicho datta datta” (I am Guicho Guicho), a play about a strange creature who says “I am Guicho Guicho datta” while a rabbit is away, and the other is “Tam Tam Tam” (an African boy who loves “dancing”), a 1991 Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Central Child Welfare Council Special Recommended Cultural Property. Both plays are 25 minutes long each and feature Tam Tam Tam, an African boy who loves to dance. Advance reservations are required, and children under 2 years old are admitted free of charge.
The Kobe Central Oyako Gekijo invites all to come and enjoy a relaxing time with their parents. <
Some of you may be familiar with the Puppet Theatre Company Clarte for their puppet theater adaptations of famous picture books. This year’s theme is an African folk tale, which is sure to be a different kind of fun.
