On June 25, “Shorinji Kempo” trial class for 1st to 6th graders will be held at “Oji Sports Center” in Nada-ku, Kobe.
A chance to encounter a new sport!
Shorinji Kempo” is a martial art that specializes in responding to the techniques of opponents in a self-defensive manner. This hands-on event was planned by the Kobe Sports Association and the city’s Shorinji Kempo Association in an effort to increase opportunities for children to become familiar with and experience various sports.
At the hands-on event, participants could learn the basic movements of Shorinji Kempo, such as the stiff techniques of thrusting and kicking, how to pull out when an opponent grabs your arm or clothes, and the jujutsu techniques of throwing by catching the opposite side of a joint.
On the day of the event, instruction will be divided into two age groups: first to third grade elementary school students and fourth to sixth grade students. Registration is open until May 10, and the fee is 500 yen. <
This seems to be a great opportunity for children of all ages to try a new sport! I hope there will be more hands-on events for various sports in the future.
