On March 25, the annual “Ikuta River Cherry Blossom Festival” will be held at Ikuta River Park, a well-known cherry blossom viewing spot in Chuo Ward, Kobe City. Admission is free.
The venue is Ikuta River Park between Nunobikibashi Bridge and Shinwaka Bridge. The park is about 1.6 km long and is planted with cherry trees such as Someiyoshino, which attract many cherry blossom-viewing visitors and local residents who come to enjoy a moment of relaxation. This is an annual event held during the blooming season, but after four years of cancellation due to measures to prevent new coronavirus infection, it has been decided that the event will be held for the first time in four years. Preventive measures continue to be taken, including the establishment of a dedicated eating and drinking area at the event site.
The event will feature a variety of stage programs including traffic safety awareness, folk dances, picture-story shows, dances, and brass band performances. In addition to attractions and educational booths, such as bingo with beanbags, toy scooping, playing with old-fashioned toys, and pressure training, there will also be food stalls offering such delicacies as Zenzai, pork buns, frankfurters, and takosen (octopus cakes).
The organizer comments, “We hope you will enjoy the Sakura Festival to your heart’s content for the first time in four years. <A word from the reporter>
The annual local event is finally here! Let’s enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms and lively festival in an open space.
