Seishin Chuo Park Cherry Blossom Festival” will be held at Seishin Chuo Park in Kobe City’s Nishi Ward on April 8 (*In case of rain, the festival will be postponed to the following April 9).
This year will be the first time in four years since the Corona Disaster. The festival will also mark the 20th anniversary of the event, and will feature a variety of events for children and adults alike.
The park is known for its cherry blossoms, which were first planted in 2001 when the local community joined together to plant 750 mature Someiyoshino cherry trees and saplings at the site of temporary housing left behind by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
After 24 years, the “Thousand Cherry Trees in Seishin Chuo Park” have come into full bloom with about 120 cherry trees supported by the “Prefecture Citizens’ Townscape Greening Project” and about 350 cherry trees planted in the past.
On the day of the event, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of gourmet delicacies, including hanami bento lunches, croquettes from Marche Rokko, Kobe wine tasting and sales, and Kita Harima products, as well as a corner selling Vissel Kobe goods, a lottery, and 17 stalls!
Also on the special stage, there will be a live performance by “STAYG,” a Japanese drum performance by “Sumire,” a dance performance by “Yosakoi Takumi,” and characters related to Kobe such as Habatan, Waketon, Wakenyan, and Weston will appear.
Mr. Hata, chairman of the Cherry Blossom Festival Executive Committee, said, “There are more than 1,000 Someiyoshino cherry trees planted in the park, and we welcome you with pink cherry blossoms in full bloom. We look forward to your visit. <
The Someiyoshino cherry trees that have been carefully nurtured by the “Seishin-Chuo Cherry Blossom Guard Club” are in full bloom again this year.
Barbeques are not allowed in the park, so please follow the rules and enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms!
