On May 27, the 50th Higashinada Uhara Festival will be held at Sumiyoshi Park Grand (Higashinada Ward, Kobe) for the first time in four years.
The Higashinada Uhara Festival is a ward festival held in all nine wards of the city as a prelude to the Kobe Festival. On the stage set up at the festival site, about 30 groups will perform spectacular acts such as yosakoi, dance, and magic tricks.
Players of the INAC Kobe Leonessa, a professional women’s soccer team based on Rokko Island, will also be on hand. Also, “Watanabe Flower” featuring Tatsuro Kumagai, who will serve as the cheering squad leader for the 50th Kobe Festival, is scheduled to perform (membership has not yet been determined).
There will also be stalls set up by women’s associations, Boy Scouts, and other community groups, as well as by nearby restaurants, where visitors can relax at food and beverage booths and on the grassy area on the north side of the park. The popular children’s air play equipment “Fluffy” will also make an appearance (200 yen per use).
Other events such as a “fun raffle” are also scheduled to be held. A ward representative commented, “This will be the first time in a long time that the event will be held, so we hope that everyone in the community will come and enjoy it. <A word from the reporter:
I am very much looking forward to this lively festival that can be enjoyed by the whole family! There will also be various food and beverage booths, so it is going to be a lot of fun.
