A “Volleyball Class” by Ms. Risa Shinabe, an Olympian and former player of the women’s volleyball team “Hisamitsu Springs” will be held at Kobe Municipal Central Gymnasium on September 17. The time is from 14:30 to 16:00. The class is open to elementary school students, and the participation fee is 1,000 yen.
In addition to teaching volleyball skills, Ms. Niinabe, who is a top athlete, will also share her attitude toward practice, the importance of teamwork, and gratitude to those around her, which will help children become more familiar with the sport and eventually lead them to have big dreams and hopes of becoming a representative athlete in Japan. The day of the event was held at “Hisamitsu Springs”.
Mana Toe, a former player of Hisamitsu Springs, is scheduled to participate as a lecturer on the day.
Applications are being accepted until August 20 through the Kobe Sports Association website. The number of participants is limited to 60, and in the event that there are too many applicants, a drawing will be held.

Risa Niinabe
joined Hisamitsu Springs (now Hisamitsu Springs) in 2009, and won the Best Newcomer Award in the 2010-11 V-League. She has since contributed to five league championships and was named MVP in the 13-14 season, represented Japan at the 2012 London Olympics, where she won a bronze medal, retired in 2008, and received the V-League Distinguished Service Award in 2009.
