On September 21, 1994, the 10th International Conference of the International Alzheimer’s Association was held in Edinburgh, Scotland, and this day, the first day of the conference, was declared “World Alzheimer’s Day” in order to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and to bring help and hope to patients worldwide The day was proclaimed “World Alzheimer’s Day”.
As part of its efforts to promote a “dementia-friendly city,” the city is working to raise awareness of World Alzheimer’s Day and promote understanding of dementia as described below.
