Press Release (September 11, 2023)
Policy Division, Welfare Bureau
Being ALIVE Japan, a certified non-profit organization (NPO), aims to support the youth and independence of children with intractable or chronic diseases and those who require long-term treatment and recuperation. The organization is working to increase the number of “TEAMMATES” in the local community to support and cheer on children and their families.
The organization’s “Sports Camp for Children in Long-Term Treatment and Their Families” will be held at Shiawase-no-mura (1, Shiawase-no-mura, Kita-ku, Kobe City). The camp invites children undergoing long-term treatment and their families living in Hyogo, Osaka, Kyoto, Shiga, and Nara prefectures to join athletes in a variety of sports and recreational experiences tailored to the children’s physical conditions.
Through participation in overnight sports camps, the camps help children with cancer and other long-term treatment needs to become more self-reliant and make friends to support them through their long treatment period. This is the first camp for children with cancer in Japan that specializes in sports. The camp will be the first to be held in the Kansai region, and will be made possible with the support of Ono Pharmaceutical Co.
Shiawase-no-Mura will support the children, their families, and everyone who supports them.
