A series of four lectures titled “The Power of Words: Improving Communication Skills” will be held at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies (Gakuen Higashi-machi, Nishi-ku, Kobe City) from October 12.

As a public university corporation, the university engages in a wide range of activities, including seminars for citizens, volunteer activities and other community contributions, international exchange activities, and support for foreign language and international understanding education in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.
In FY2017, the Kobe Gaidai University established the “Kobe Gaidai University Attractiveness Project Support System” to further develop and expand the various activities conducted by students and faculty, and to widely disseminate information to society. The lecture, part of this project, will be given by four lecturers who are active in various fields.
The lectures will focus on the “heart of words” that cannot be reached by superficial greetings or business talk, and will explore the “power of words” from a variety of perspectives. The lectures will include: October 12, “The Heart of Proofreading” by Hisao Onishi, a proofreader; October 26, “The Power of Words” by Motoyo Yamane, an announcer; December 7, “The Future of Bookstores” by Hiromitsu Kitada, manager of the Tsutaya Umeda store; and January 25, 2024, “Message from Old Books” by Akihiro Sashi, historian and former president of Kobe City University of Foreign Studies. The event will be held from 4:05pm to 5:35pm on each day. The lectures, which will be held until December 7, will be shown on the university’s official YouTube channel at a later date.
