On November 19, Kobe Port Backyard Tour “Let’s Grow Eelgrass in Hyogo Canal” will be held at Hyogo Canal (Hyogo Ward, Kobe City). will be held at Hyogo Port Backyard Tour (Hyogo Ward, Kobe) on November 19. Advance application by October 29 is required to participate.
Kobe City has been holding events for elementary and junior high school students to tour and experience port facilities in the hope that they will learn about and become familiar with the port and its attractions from a child’s point of view.
This year’s “Kobe Port Backyard Tour” was held at the “Hyogo Canal,” where various efforts are being made to improve “biodiversity. The Hyogo Canal is working to grow eelgrass, an environmentally friendly plant that absorbs carbon dioxide and grows on the shallow seafloor, and this time visitors will be able to plant precious eelgrass seeds by themselves.
The event will also include an environmental class by a local fisherman and a touch pool where visitors can hold and observe fish and other aquatic organisms living in the Hyogo Canal.
The person in charge of the event says, “Let’s learn about nature and living creatures around us at the Hyogo Canal with our children and aim to be “defenders” of the Hyogo Canal, which protects the rich satoumi (satoumi is the natural environment of the Hyogo Prefecture). The person in charge of the event is calling for “parents and children to learn about nature and living creatures around them at the Hyogo Canal, and to become “defenders” of the Hyogo Canal, which protects the rich satoumi.
