On November 19, “SL (Steam Locomotive D51 Car No. 8)” will be open to the public at Ohmono Park, an event held on the third Sunday of every month from April to November, and this will be the last day this year.
The “SL (steam locomotive D51 class 8)” on display was built in 1936 by Kawasaki Sharyo in Kobe, and is one of only four such locomotives in Japan, making it extremely valuable.
Normally, visitors can only see the locomotive through the fence, but on the day of the tour, visitors can listen to a detailed explanation from a volunteer who is familiar with locomotives, and even enter the driver’s cab.
The person in charge says, “Normally, you can only see the locomotive through the fence, but you can touch the control levers and gauges in the driver’s cab. The locomotive is historically very valuable, and it is very powerful when you see it up close. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by. Photography is also allowed. We encourage visitors to come and see the locomotive.

The SL looks very powerful when you see it in front of you. I have never seen a locomotive up close, so I would like to take this opportunity to visit with my children and have a valuable experience.
