On June 15, “MLB PLAY BALL 2024 in KOBE @ Hotto Motto Field Kobe,” the first participatory event of its kind in the Kansai region, will be held at “Hotto Motto Field Kobe” in Suma Ward, Kobe City. The event is open to children between the ages of 4 and 6th grade who are not currently on a baseball team, and registration is free of charge.
The MLB PLAY BALL is the MLB’s flagship youth participation event, held in various locations in the United States and Canada. It will be held in Japan for the first time in June 2022, and is attracting attention as an event where participants can learn about baseball from a splendid lineup of instructors, including Lars Nutobar (St. Louis Cardinals), who became a hot topic during the WBC.
This year’s event, the first to be held in the Kansai region, will feature former major leaguer Mac Suzuki as the instructor, and participants will be able to learn the basics of baseball, including batting and pitching. Participants will receive an original cap, T-shirt, bat, ball, and other souvenirs.
The person in charge of the event said, “Children who have never played baseball before are invited! Let’s experience the basics of baseball such as batting and pitching with a former MLB player while having fun! There will be a gift for all participants! All participants will receive a free gift!
<A word from the reporter>
It will be a wonderful opportunity to learn baseball from a former major leaguer who was active in the world! I hope this will be a great opportunity for more children to take up baseball or develop an interest in the sport.
