Kobe City started a food collection service for “Food Drive” at “Recycle Kobo” operated at two locations in the city on May 1.

Food drive” is an activity to collect surplus food at home and donate it to local food banks, support groups for the needy, children’s cafeterias, welfare facilities, etc. that need food.
The city has installed special “collection boxes” at two new facilities, Recycle Kobo Azuma (Chuo-ku, Kobe City) and Recycle Kobo Hokushin (Kita-ku, Kobe City). Food brought in during the opening hours of the facilities will be offered to welfare organizations in the city.
Please note that the following conditions (all of which must be met) have been established for food items that are being collected.

(2) At least one month before the expiration date

Stored at room temperature (not refrigerated or frozen foods)
(4)
Labeled with the manufacturer or seller
(5) Labeled
with ingredients or allergy information
(6)
Labeled in Japanese
In
addition, alcohol (except mirin and cooking sake) and homemade products are not subject to collection.

It is important to help each other because of the difficult times we live in. There is no need to be unreasonable, but it would be nice if each one of us could help in any way we can. The “Recycle Workshop” where the collection boxes are set up also takes and offers childcare/children’s goods and used books, so please visit there if you are interested in those items as well.
