The “Kemono to Hitori Music Festival -Prayer for the Recovery from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake-” will be held on September 14 at “Orbis Hall” in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City. Tickets are on sale now.
The event is a music concert by sculptor Mio Hashimoto, who expresses the true forms of animals in wood carving, and musicians. The event was decided to be held in the hope that “together with three musicians who are overflowing with love for animals, we can share our love not only for humans but for all living creatures on the earth, the whole forest, through music.
Among the participating musicians, “Mugi (cat)” is particularly unique. After passing away in January 2009 and living in heaven, she returned to this world in 2014 with a new body handmade by her owner, Yusaku-chan, and has been active as a musician.
The cat has many similarities with Tom-kun, a cat that Hashimoto had at home, including the position of the pattern on his nose, his hachiware, and the shortness of his tail.
This year’s exhibition is especially titled “Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Reconstruction Prayer,” and the person in charge commented, “Every year, not a day goes by when I do not think of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, but I am grateful to be alive today. The “Ikimonia Marche,” a collection of ikimono works, will also be held at the venue.
<A word from the reporter:
I was moved by Mugi (cat)’s unknown episode! The wonderful music will make you feel warm and fuzzy.
