The annual “Tanabata Train” will run on all Kobe New Transit and Rokko Island Line (Rokko Liner) lines. The period is from June 26 to July 7.
The “Tanabata Train” is a special train car decorated with tanzaku (paper strips) with wishes written by about 200 second grade students of three elementary schools in Rokko Island (Koyo Elementary School, Rokko Island Elementary School, and Takaba Rokko Island Elementary School) on the car windows.
The first train carries the headmarks “Orihime-go” and “Hikoboshi-go” and makes a round trip between Sumiyoshi Station and Marine Park Station.
The “Tanabata Train,” which has been running since 2008, is now in its 16th year and has become a Rokko Island tradition. Children’s wishes written on colorful and gorgeous strips of paper will be displayed on the train as it travels through Rokko Island.
