Kobe Bunka Hall (Chuo-ku, Kobe City) will hold a children’s concert “Jizentoroku Tanken Dondoro” on August 3. Advance tickets are now on sale.
This concert is designed to allow anyone, regardless of age or disability, to enjoy music in a relaxed environment compared to a regular classical concert. The one-hour performance with no intermission allows people to freely enter and leave the venue even during the performance. The lighting is not completely dark, and can be enjoyed safely from ages 0 and up.
The program includes authentic classical selections such as Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 “Italia,” Gershwin Cuba Overture, and Villa-Lobos Brazilian Style Bach No. 2.
The orchestra will be conducted by Yusuke Kimoto, who has performed with professional orchestras throughout Japan, and will feature percussionist Saeko Yasunaga. This is a new kind of children’s concert made possible by the fact that Kobe is home to two professional groups, the Kobe Chamber Orchestra and the Kobe Mixed Chorus, both based in Kobe.

This is a rare opportunity to enjoy classical music with your children. It is also an opportunity for children to be exposed to classical music in a casual way.
