The “Minatogawa Shrine Summer Festival: Dedo Matsuri and Kikusui Tenjin Matsuri” will be held from August 22 to 26 at the Minatogawa Shrine (Chuo-ku, Kobe), which is well known for its “Nanko-san” (a Japanese word for “Nanko-san”).
From August 21 to 30, a “Noryo Beer Garden” will be held on the shrine grounds.
During the “Minatogawa Shrine Summer Festival,” the grounds of the shrine will be decorated with many lanterns, and the “Nebuta” lanterns of Lord Kusunoki will shine brightly and colorfully. The “Minatogawa Shrine Summer Festival” is a combination of two festivals: the “Dedo Matsuri (Offering Lantern Festival)” to remember and console the spirit of Lord Masanari Kusunoki, the deity of the shrine, and the “Kikusui Tenjin Matsuri (Kikusui Shrine Festival)” held at Tenma Shrine, a shrine on the shrine grounds.

Various events are held during the Summer Festival, including a parade of children’s portable shrines, a Noryo tea ceremony, and the Gozen Odori dance.
In addition to these events, “Japanese Traditional Performing Arts Monkey Mawashi”, “Oechi Matsuri Lanterns”, and food stalls can be enjoyed every night during the Summer Festival.
The Noryo Beer Garden, which is very popular every year, is available on the day of the festival, but since it is especially crowded from August 22 to 26 during the Summer Festival, visitors are encouraged to make reservations in advance by phone.
