As a new initiative for industry-academia-government collaboration in Kobe Medical Industry Development Project, the Kobe Institute of Health Science, the Biologics Center for Research and Training (BCRET) and the Kobe Organization for Promotion of
Biomedical Innovation
have joined forces to promote collaboration between universities and research institutes in the region and to help develop human resources among students. The three organizations, Kobe City Institute of Health Science, Biologics Research and Training Center (BCRET), and Kobe Medical Industry Development Corporation, will collaborate to hold the “Theory and Practice of PCR Methods” course for science students of universities located in the region.

September 10 (Day 1) Venue: (morning) BCRET, (afternoon) Health Science Institute |
10 : 00 ~ 12 : 00 | Fundamentals of molecular biology, principles and applications of PCR methods (classroom lecture) |
13 : 15 ~ 17 : 00 | Surveillance of infectious diseases using PCR (classroom lecture), pipetting, gel electrophoresis, PCR experiments |
September 11 (Day 2) Venue: Institute of Health Sciences |
10 : 00 ~ 12 : 00 | Gel electrophoresis, confirmation of PCR experiment results, group work |
13 : 00 ~ 17 : 00 | Nucleic acid extraction (classroom lecture), facility tour, practical real-time PCR, review of results |
September 12 (Day 3) Venue: Institute of Health Sciences |
10 : 00 ~ 12 : 00 | Laboratory training, nucleic acid extraction from specimen reception, review of real-time PCR test results |
