Autumn festivals, music events, cosmos in full bloom, and more this weekend!

This weekend, too, there are many events to enjoy autumn.

Sumadera Temple will hold an autumn festival called “Suma Night Sound Music and Buddhist Service,” and three cosmos fields near Yasaka Shrine on the Hazu River will be in full bloom with about 1 million cosmos trees covering the vast field.

October 26 (Saturday)

Suma Night Sound Music and Buddhist Memorial Service” A fantastic night of sutra chanting and music echoing in the night sky in Kobe City, praying for peace.

Suma Yaon Music and Buddhist Memorial Service” will be held at Sumadera Temple, a famous temple associated with the Genpei period (794-1185). The event is a joint dedication combining shomyo (Buddhist chanting) by Shingon and Tendai sect monks with performances by the music unit “shinsha” led by former Blue Hearts drummer Tetsuya Kajiwara and the 1-stringed Suma Koto (Japanese harp), where prayers for peace are offered under the autumn night sky.
