The “Santa Festival of Bamboo and Light – Sanda Akindo Festival” will be held on December 15 at “Kippi Square” (Sanda City), right next to JR Sanda Station and Kobe Electric Railway Sanda Station. Admission is free and the festival will be held rain or shine (cancelled in case of stormy weather).
This year’s event, the first in four years, will feature a variety of programs for children and adults alike, as well as food, drink, and booths selling goods to let visitors feel the charms of Sanda. The event will be held for the first time in four years. The community will come together to create a heartwarming and special winter day.
On the stage, there will be dance performances, a quiz contest, a live performance by local artist “Chimeido,” and a raffle with gorgeous prizes such as a Nintendo DS. At the venue, 23 stalls will offer food and beverages such as warming pork miso soup and oden, a fair for children, and workshops to liven up the event.
From 5:30 p.m., a lighting ceremony of a 3-meter-high “Bamboo Lantern Christmas Tree” will be held at the venue, and at 6:00 p.m., approximately 300 bamboo lanterns will be lit in the shopping street leading from the venue. The tree was created with the cooperation of local businesses and citizens as an effort to address the problem of bamboo damage in Sanda City.

Don’t forget to buy a “specialty” at the Akindo Festival, “Yone-manju. At the tree-lighting ceremony, “Hite,” a popular singer on SNS, will perform Christmas songs! We are looking forward to it!
