Le Bien, a boulangerie loved in Brittany, France for three generations, will start selling “Galette des Rois” from December 28. It is available in the prefecture at Kobe Hankyu Lumilene (Chuo-ku, Kobe City), Nishinomiya Hankyu (Nishinomiya City), and Ashiya Daimaru (Ashiya City) stores.
Galette des Rois is a traditional French pastry indispensable for the New Year, eaten to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6.
The fun part of the galette des rois lies in the “fève,” a small ceramic doll, and the person who wins the fève hidden inside when cutting it into pieces is crowned and blessed as a king or queen on that day.
Fave” *You cannot choose the type of fave.
The store’s galette des rois is baked in a crispy pastry dough carefully prepared one by one, filled with almond cream rich in the flavors of almonds and hazelnuts, and baked in a cream with rum and vanilla for an aromatic taste. A single almond is substituted for the fave, so you can enjoy it with family and friends.
<A word from the reporter>
It is said that the person whose galette des rois contains a fève will be king for the day and have good luck for a whole year. We hope everyone enjoys a pleasant teatime together as they try their luck in the New Year.
