The annual New Year’s event “Kagami-Kai” (free of charge) will be held at Yumigenu Shrine in Mikage, Higashinada-ku, Kobe, from midnight on January 1.
Since ancient times, Yumiganeha Shrine has been known as a shrine for “good luck in getting rid of bad luck, family safety, traffic safety, and fulfillment of various wishes.
At the “Kagami-Okiraki” ceremony, which celebrates the coming of the New Year, sake barrels of Kiku-Masamune, Hakutsuru, and Kenrishi will be prepared for approximately 3,000 people and served free of charge.
Also, from midnight, a “Special New Year’s Prayer Service (2,000 yen for the first 50 visitors; zodiac sign masu and five-color rice awarded)” will be held for the first 50 visitors, and a “New Year First Prayer Service (8,000 yen or more)” to pray for family safety, prosperous business, protection from bad luck, and good fortune, etc. will also be offered.
On January 3, a “New Year ‘Kotobuki’ Tea Ceremony” will be held from noon, sponsored by the Urasenke Tankokai Kobe Daiichi Branch Youth Club, where visitors can enjoy tea and sweets (500 yen).
<A word from the reporter:
Yugenoha Shrine is a shrine that is revered by sake brewers as the guardian god of sake brewing. We would like to celebrate the coming of the New Year with a sake barrel taste comparison. A free shuttle bus runs during the daytime on Mikaga day for convenient Hatsumode (New Year’s visit)!
