On January 26, “Children and Adults Play Tag” event will be held at the Hyogo Prefectural Hyogo-Tsu Museum (Hyogo Ward, Kobe). Applications for participation will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from January 3.
This is an annual event held at this time of year at the facility. The event was planned to “encourage children to play tag on the lawn with all their might,” as there are fewer spaces and opportunities to play outdoors.
At the event, visitors can experience “kotorokotoro,” a game that was played about 1,300 years ago. After deciding on the roles of the ogre, the parent, and the child, the parent and the child form a line and face the ogre. The parent protects the child from the ogre in the play, which is said to be the oldest form of tag.
