Awajiya, a bento box lunch box company headquartered in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City and celebrating 120 years in business, will release “Umi no ‘Moshi wa 118 Hittari Meshi'” and “JR Freight Container Lunch Box Akashi no Taimeshi Hen” on January 7 for a limited time.
The “Moshi moshi” no. 118 Hittari Meshi” is a collaborative effort to promote awareness of the Japan Coast Guard’s emergency call number “118” among a wider audience.
The blue urn, which is reminiscent of the sea, is specially designed to depict a mobile rescue team coming to the aid of an octopus from a helicopter. The hanging paper states, “For ‘incidents and accidents’ at sea, call 118,” and features an illustration of a Japan Coast Guard diver encountering an octopus in the ocean.
The rice is made with squid, which is abundant in the sea under the jurisdiction of the Fifth Regional Security Headquarters in Kobe, and is used as the filling.
The “JR Freight Container Lunchbox: Sea bream rice from Akashi” to be released on the same day is an ekiben that uses a lunchbox with a JR freight container motif. When the first version was released last year, the response was far greater than expected, and it became a big hit on SNS. The first “Meishi tai meshi” was a big hit on social networking sites. And “When will it be green? The second collaboration was realized in response to such requests as “When will the second product be released? It took about a year of development to complete the product this time.
The second product uses a container modeled after a specially painted “19D type container” of which only 50 were made to commemorate 50 years of railroad container transport. Inside the container is a serving of Akashi’s famous “tai meshi” (sea bream rice). The product is available at Awaji-ya stores and online. <Awajiya,
