From May 18 to 24, special tours of the Kyu-Inui Residence (Higashinada-ku, Kobe), a Kobe City-designated Tangible Cultural Property and Place of Scenic Beauty, will be held. Advance reservations are required.
Visitors can sneak into the “Kyu-kan-tei,” which is not usually open to the public!
The “Kyu-Kui Residence” was built around 1936 at the foot of a mountain in the former Sumiyoshi Village (now part of Higashinada Ward) as the home of Inui Shinji, who founded Inui Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
The main building, storehouse, and garden, which still retain their original appearance, are extremely valuable, and the entire building, including the gate and walls, is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by Kobe City. The entire building, including the gate and walls, is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by Kobe City.
Although the facility is not open to the public at all times, special open houses are held twice a year for the public to view. Applications in advance are accepted by April 12 (postmarked by April 12) by return postcard to the former Kushoku-tei Management Association. <A word from the reporter>
Since you can usually only see the house from the outside, a tour inside will give you an even better idea of what life was like there!
