The name of this Jizo is “Kubi Jizo. It is a Jizo with only the top of its neck, and it is quite large…! I, who am not good at scary stories and horror stories, was scared by the name alone, but I had to see it to know what it was! So I decided to go and see him!

This time, I walked from Settsuhonyama Station. It took me 12 minutes to walk there under the still hot sun. I started to feel uneasy and wondered if we were really in such a residential area. I was beginning to feel uneasy, when suddenly I met him!

This is…. It is a large Jizo-san, just as I had heard rumors! But if you take a closer look at his face…

Arching eyebrows, slit eyes, and beautifully rouged lips. She is not as scary as I thought she would be! I felt relieved to see her gentle expression. I greeted the Jizo with my hands together and took a look around.

Next to the Jizo is an explanation about Haku-bi Jizo. Hmmm. The Jizo-san was originally located at the place where there was a Jizo-san that was beneficial for illnesses from the neck up, and has been watching over this area with this gentle expression for more than 100 years since it was built in 1917.

Is this from the time it was built? It is very tasteful. Research shows that it was destroyed during the Great Hanshin Earthquake, but was rebuilt in May 1995.

The Jizo-san is surrounded by beautiful flowers, which shows that it is cherished by the local people. If you have a chance to visit the neighborhood, please do so.
