Awaji-ya, a bento box lunch shop based in Higashinada-ku, Kobe, will start selling “Panda Copanda Hippippadako Meshi” on September 13, in collaboration with “Panda Copanda,” a video work loved by men and women of all ages. Online reservations will be accepted from September 1.
Panda Copanda is a masterpiece animation film produced by Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. Released in 1972, the film triggered a panda boom throughout Japan, and more than 50 years after its release, it continues to be loved by many as a timeless masterpiece.
The collaboration product was developed based on the idea that “by collaborating with the restaurant’s product “Hittari Dako Meshi,” which has been the subject of various collaborations in recent years, passengers will be able to enjoy a nostalgic, cute and retro atmosphere while enjoying a relaxing train trip like never before.
The container for the “Panda Copanda Hittari Dako Meshi” is a special jar depicting the impressive opening line dance scene of the film. The wrapping paper depicts “Panda” and “Pang-chan” enjoying a picnic while playing music, and the “familiar octopus.
The contents of the dish are made by changing some of the ingredients of the standard hittaridako-meshi, and serving himechiku-ni (stewed bamboo shoots) to give the impression of “bamboo,” which is said to be Panda’s favorite food.
